The focus during the Champions League T20 final was on two great servants of Indian cricket, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, who were playing their last game in the shortest version of the game.
Playing in the first major final of his career, young Sanju Samson wasn't unnerved by the occasion nor was he daunted by the huge target Mumbai Indians had set Rajasthan to chase. Along with Ajinkya Rahane he went after the Mumbai bowling. Pace and spin made no impact on Sanju as Harbhajan Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Nathan Coulter-Nile all felt the heat from his blade.
Sanju isn't perturbed about the fact that he couldn't carry on after his fifty and win the title for his side but is pleased that he in his own way could make the match special for two great cricketers.
"I knew everyone would watch the final as it was the farewell game for Dravid and Tendulkar. There was no special plan as such when I went out to bat. I enjoyed batting with Rahane and I am happy that I could give my best," said Sanju.
Terming his move to Rajasthan as one of the biggest turning points in life, Sanju admits it is the freedom given by Dravid that helped him to play to his potential. Rajasthan Royals are like a family.
